Veneers

Beautiful teeth

Do you want better teeth? Then placing veneers may be the right choice for you. In any case, it’s worth investigating the possibilities. Placing veneers falls under aesthetic dentistry. The dentist makes your teeth more beautiful than ever before.

What are veneers?

A veneer or facing is a shield that is placed over one’s own teeth. This dental restoration, made from composite or porcelain, makes your teeth more beautiful. This resolves, among other things, cracks between the teeth, hides crooked or broken teeth and makes your teeth whiter again.

In this article we tell you everything about having veneers placed.

When are veneers the right choice?

As stated, having veneers placed is an aesthetic, or in other words, cosmetic dental procedure where the aim is to make the teeth more beautiful. The cause of this can be different. If your tooth is broken off, placing veneers can be a good way to restore your teeth.

A gap between your teeth can be very annoying. Some people are ashamed of it and therefore laugh less. They are always aware of that gap between their teeth and therefore do not feel free to show their teeth. A shame of course because smiling is the best thing there is. Here too veneers can solve your problems. You can, in consultation with the dentist, determine what your teeth will look like.

With that knowledge you naturally understand that veneers can help you with crooked teeth. If you are annoyed by this, you can choose to have this remedied by placing veneers. An additional advantage, your teeth will also become whiter again.

How does the placement of veneers work?

At Jan van Nassau Dental Center we work with porcelain veneers. These veneers last longer than veneers made of composite and as you know we only go for the highest possible quality. The dental treatment takes place in our dental practice in The Hague. This requires two agreements.

During the first appointment we make a print of the teeth for which veneers are made. Of course you don’t have to have all of your teeth fitted with a veneer. To ensure that the veneers fit well with your mouth and teeth, the dentist first grinds off a piece of the tooth enamel. This means there is sufficient space for the veneer. Then an impression is made of your tooth or teeth so that the veneer fits well with your own teeth.

Between the first and the second appointment, a dental technician will start to make the right veneers for you. When you come for your second appointment, the veneers are ready for you. The dentist places the veneers over your own teeth and before you know it you have beautiful teeth. Before placing the veneers, the teeth are treated with an acid agent. An adhesive layer is then applied.

After the treatment

As soon as your veneers are placed your teeth can feel a bit strange. Certainly when you have changed the shape of your teeth. The gap between your teeth is gone, crooked teeth are straight and broken pieces have been replenished. It may sound silly but you can notice this in your statement. The sounds sound different because the shapes of your teeth have changed.

Of course this will disappear after a few days and you will get used to your new teeth. For the rest you can do everything with your teeth as you are used to. Food and drink is no different than usual. As well as taking care of your teeth. Simply brush your teeth twice a day with a soft toothbrush. However, it is important that you do not nail-bite or grind your teeth for a healthy life.
